Michael Adams and Amy Ballmer (Graduate Center) gave a presentation about conducting instruction through QuestionPoint chats at a meeting of the Metro Bibliographic Instruction Special Interest Group at Metro on March 24.

Ellen Belcher (John Jay) presented “Consuming Halaf Body Imagery: Constructed Commodifications of Halaf Figurines,” at the 7th International Congress on the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East, in London on April 12.

Marta Bladek (John Jay) presented  “The Perils of Going Back: Seeking and Making Roots in Lisa Pearl Rosenbaum’s A Day of Small Beginnings” and “Between Allegiance and Ambivalence: Ethnic Identity in Post-Soviet Jewish American Literature,” at the Modern Language Association convention in Philadelphia in December 2009.

Robin Brown (Borough of Manhattan) presented “Ebooks: A Point of View from an Educated Consumer” as part of “Electronic Books and Electronic Readers: Emerging Issues and Questions,” a program of  LACUNY’s Emerging Technologies Committee at Baruch College on April 23.

Laura Cobus-Kuo (Hunter) gave a poster session “Information Literacy in Public Health: A Program Evaluation” at the  Medical Library Association Annual Conference in Washington on May 23.

Kathleen Collins (John Jay) presented “Murrow and Friendly’s ‘Small World’: The Impossible Ideal of the World’s Biggest Classroom” at a joint meeting of the American Journalism Historians Association and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication History Division at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism on March 13.  She moderated a panel entitled “TV and Beyond: The Future of Food and Cooking in Broadcast Media” at the Roger Smith Food Writers Conference in New York on February 13. Kathleen also moderated a panel about books by food writers at the first annual Empire State Book Festival in Albany on April 10.

Anamika Dasgupta (York) presented “Google Blog Search Engine vs. Technorati Blog Directory: A Study of User Relevance Criteria” at Connections 2010, University of Western Ontario, on May 15.

Alexandra DeLuise (Queens), Maura Smale (City Tech), and Marie Spina (LaGuardia) served as panelists for LILAC’s “Creditable Strategies: The Library Course in the CUNY Curriculum” at the Graduate Center on Febrary 1.  Randy Hensley (Baruch) acted as moderator.

Stephen Francoeur (Baruch) gave a presentation about using videos to supplement reference and support instruction at a meeting of the Metro Bibliographic Instruction Special Interest Group at Metro on March 24.

LaRoi Lawton (Bronx) was keynote speaker at the annual New York State Library Assistants’ Day Conference on April 15.

Karl Madden (Medgar Evers)  presented “Library Staff in the Changing Academy: Modern Adaptation, Traditional Wisdom” at the Second International Symposium on Emerging Trends and Technologies in Libraries and Information Services at Jaypee University of Information Technology in India in June.

Kenneth Schlesinger (Lehman) presented “Empowering the Reluctant New Library Manager” at a preconference workshop for the SUNY Library Association in Brockport, N.Y. on June 16.

Maura Smale (City Tech) presented “Quality Counts: Developing a Game for Information Literacy Instruction” at the New England Library Instruction Group Annual Program at Yale University on June 4.
