Milestones

Nora Almeida (Baruch) is the new Library Coordinator for Reserve Desk.

Jooah (Sylvia) Cho (Baruch) has been appointed the new Library Specialist in charge of resource-sharing services.

Kathleen Collins (John Jay) has been awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor.

Kevin Collins (OLS) was named University Systems Librarian in February.  Kevin was previously Senior Programmer/Analyst at the SUNY Stony Brook Health Sciences Library.

Neil Dazet (Brooklyn) became the new Science Librarian in July.   Neil has an MS in biology from Missouri State University and an MLS from the University of Missouri.

Alex de Laslo (LaGuardia) completed his MA in Middle Eastern studies at the Graduate Center.

Julia Furay (Kingsborough) has been appointed Reader Services Librarian.  She was previously a reference librarian at SUNY Maritime College and has an MLS from Queens College.

Verlene (Vee) Herrington has been appointed to the position of Chief Librarian and Director of Academic Technology at the New Community College.  Vee comes to the NCC from Bronx Community College, where she served as Technical Service/Electronic Resources Librarian.  Prior to coming to CUNY, Dr. Herrington served as Chief, U.S. Army Military Intelligence Library, during which time she was the recipient of the prestigious Federal Librarian of the Year Award. Vee also was Library Director at Lucent Technologies and a visiting Assistant Professor at the Noble Science Library at Arizona State University.  Originally from Indiana, Vee received her Ph.D. from Arizona State University in Education, an M.L.S. from the University of Tennessee in Information Studies/Library Science, and a Master’s from the University of Cincinnati in School Psychology.

Christ McHale (LaGuardia) is the new Access Services Librarian.  Chris has an MLS from Florida State University.

Devin McKay (Queensborough) has been promoted to professor.

Scott White (LaGuardia) has been appointed Deputy Chief Librarian, after serving as Acting Chief Librarian during Jane Devine’s sabbatical.

Hope Young (York) retired in January after twenty-five years of service.  The title professor emerita was conferred upon her.
