LACUNY Travel Grant

LACUNY Professional Development Committee awards three professional travel grants of up to $600 to full LACUNY members in Spring and Fall semesters for the purpose of attending library-related conferences /meetings / events.

This is not a research travel grant, which is covered by the PSC-CUNY research awards. In addition, this grant is separate from any funds which may be available through a particular college or department for faculty travel. Grant deadlines and other details will be announced in a timely manner through the CULIB-L listserv.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be Full LACUNY members
  • Adjunct faculty members are eligible as long as they are registered as Full LACUNY members.
  • Awards will not be given to more than one person from each institution.
  • Past grant awardees are not eligible.

Evaluation Criteria

The grant applications are evaluated on the following criteria:

  1. Proposal: It should be no longer than 500 words. It should clearly represents how attending such an event can benefit candidate in his/her professional development, How the member’s attendance furthers the LACUNY’s mission, contributes to areas of special focus within CUNY libraries, explores new trends in the field and how well these ideas are communicated to the reviewers.

  2. Budget: The inclusion of a detailed budget indicating the following:

    • Estimation of travel expenses (by most economical method)
      • Air
      • Train
      • Car
      • Other
      • Meals. With receipts, the maximum total allowance for meals will be $50 per day. (No more than $18 for breakfast, $25 for lunch and $40 for dinner.)
      • Lodging
      • Registration fee
      • Local travel
      • Other costs
